Our Services
At Ashland Ayurveda we provide a wide variety of treatments and education.
Consultation – The Ayurveda consultation looks at “your” constitutional body type, diet, supplements and lifestyle routine. We then see where changes can be made to increase your health and well-being. Herbs, daily routines, exercises, colors and meditation can all make a big difference in our health.
Herb Formulas – Medicated oils, decoctions, teas and formulas made specifically for your imbalances can be supplied.
Ahbyanga – This is a specific type of Ayurvedic massage that includes marma point therapy. Oil is very crucial to our health, especially as we age, and ahbyanga’s aim is the application of oil. Self-application instruction is also given.
Shirodhara (pictured above) – This treatment is very popular in India, especially with Westerners, because it has such a relaxing effect. In this treatment oil is applied to your forehead in a continuous stream. The oil has herbs decocted in it that are suited to you. Frequently there are a series of these treatments for stress and nervous disorders.
Nasya – Nasya is the application of drops to the nose but it is done after a facial massage and along with steam. The oil is medicated with herbs for the imbalances that you have. Allergies, mood problems and stress can be helped with this treatment.
Swedana - This is steam application usually used in conjunction with another treatment. In our cool climate, moist heat can be very beneficial.
Pancha Karma – This is actually a process that lasts 1½ to 3 weeks and it is a purification, or removal of toxins. There are many treatments within the process. Ask when you come… if you are interested.
Rasayana – This also encompasses many treatments within it. Rasayana is given for people who are very weak or may have multiple problems that make purification not possible until they are made stronger. This is where rasayana helps.
We have many other treatments at Ashland Ayurveda. Ask for a complete list or we will speak about them when you come in.
